Calculate emissions and contribute to climate protection

Calculate and offset your flight emissions directly from your logbook

The digital flight log from capzlog.aero now offers the option of calculating the CO2 footprint of flights. Aircraft of the TMG, SEP and MEP classes with conventional combustion engines are supported.

By directly selecting the flights already recorded in the flight log, volunt.aero performs the calculation with just a few clicks. Based on these calculations, an effective contribution to climate protection can now be made.

Choose Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) or effective climate protection projects

Based on the calculated CO2 emissions, volunt.aero currently offers two options for making an effective and transparent contribution to climate protection. These can be investments in sustainable carbon offset projects from myclimate or in Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF).

This is how the contribution works using SAF

If SAF is selected, volunt.aero pools this contribution together with others and triggers orders from SAF partners at regular intervals. Once SAF has been fed into the aviation system, volunt.aero receives confirmation of the quantity refuelled and the resulting reduction in CO2 emissions.

The principle known as "book & claim" is similar in function to that of green electricity, where consumers pay their electricity provider a surcharge for electricity from sustainable sources. In the case of green electricity, the electricity produced is fed into the grid and the purchaser is rarely the recipient. The situation is similar with volunt.aero, where users only pay the surcharge for SAF.

As with electricity, it makes the most sense from a life cycle assessment perspective if SAF arrives at an aircraft without complex supply chains. In contrast to electricity, volunt.aero confirms delivery to the customer.

How the contribution via climate protection projects works

The emissions calculated from the flight data serve as the basis for making a voluntary but effective contribution to high-quality climate protection projects that demonstrably reduce CO2 emissions.

All climate protection projects are implemented by competent partners and verified by independent experts. myclimate applies only the strictest, independent quality standards (CDM, Gold Standard and Plan Vivo) when selecting and developing climate protection projects.

Climate protection made easy

You need an account at capzlog.aero so that you can make a contribution to climate protection for your flights quickly and easily directly from your personal flight logbook. If you don't have one yet, you can register and test it free of charge for 30 days.

As soon as you have your digital logbook, you can follow this tutorial:

Who are the partners of this initiative?

This service is offered by capzlog.aero in collaboration with volunt.aero, with the support of the Aero Club of Switzerland (AeCS) and the climate protection organization myclimate.

The support of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and the cooperation with the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) underline the scientific basis and sustainability of this solution.
